AI hasn’t replaced me as a delivery director yet. But it has quietly replaced about a third of what I used to call “my work”.

For the past year I’ve been running AI inside my daily delivery work - not pilots, not slideware. Agentic coding tools, integrations I built myself, multi-agent workflows for analysis and documentation.

What actually changed

Analysis and documentation: 30-50% faster. Not a benchmark from a vendor deck - my own measured reality.
First drafts of anything (status reports, risk registers, meeting summaries) are no longer written by humans. They are reviewed by humans.
The bottleneck moved: from producing information to judging it.

What didn’t change

Clients still buy trust, not tokens.
Stakeholder alignment is still handmade.
Accountability doesn’t delegate.

The uncomfortable part: most delivery organizations still price and plan as if none of this happened.

If you run delivery and haven’t put your own hands on these tools yet - that’s the gap I’d close first. Judgment about AI doesn’t come from reading about AI.
